Microsoft Outlook Express Data:
Single or multiple Microsoft Outlook Express identities
data can be restored easily by just selecting the identity-related
data from inside each identity.
Outlook Express data that can be backed up and restored include:
Mail folders, Message Rules, all accounts, Preferences, Block-Sender
list, Signatures and Stationary.
Before choosing the backed up identity to restore the user
must select an identity on his machine to restore to - Genie
Outlook Express Backup will create a dummy identity if the
user chooses to, to use in synchronizing his data, otherwise
the new data will replace the old in the chosen identity.
The user will be able to synchronize between his old and
new e-mails through a user-friendly wizard that will guide
him through the e-mail restore process.
You can view emails inside the backup file without having
to restore them first. This new feature allows you to quick-view
your emails. You can even “copy” the text of the
email and you can view images, media, etc. To view a folder,
just select the folder and click the “View Folders e-mails”
button.
The user can also choose to restore
a single e-mail from a backup file, the steps for doing so
are:
1- Select backup
file
2- Prcoeed to the "Choosing
which data to restore" step
3- In "Outlook
Express Data" chose the mail identity
4- From "Outlook
Express Root" choose the folder holding
the e-mail
5- Press the "View
Folder e-mails" button
6- Choose e-mail
7- Press "Save
e-mail as .ml" to save e-mail to file
with the extension eml
8- You can restore the e-mail to Outlook Express by drag-dropping
the eml file to any desired folder there
2- Windows Favorites:
The user can restore Windows Favorites that were backed up
using Outlook Express Backup by checking the “Windows
Favorites” checkbox under “My
Profile.” The number of favorites to
be restored will be shown in “Number
of Backed up Favorites” field.
3- Internet Explorer Settings
Internet Explorer settings include:
+Internet Explorer Settings (General, Security, Privacy, etc...)
+Internet Explorer Cookies
4- Windows Address Book (WAB):
The standard Windows Address Book is a file with the extension
of .WAB.
Outlook Express Backupr offers the user the option to view
the Address Book file before the actual restore process starts
by pressing the “View
backed Up WAB Data".
Outlook Express Backup also gives
the user the option to save the existing address book before
restoring the backed up address book by choosing the "Save
Backup Copy of Existing Address Book” option.
Note:
There is always one address
book on the system even if multiple identities are created
on that system.
5- My Files:
The user can view the files he backed up by selecting "My
Files" checkbox and he can then select which file to
restore.
The user can select and change the restore location on his
machine.
When restoring any file that is already on the user's machine,
the user can select one of the three following options from
the Settings for file restoring:
1- Do not replace the file on the computer with the restored
file.
2- Replace the file on the computer with the restored file
only if the file on the computer is older.
3- Always replace the file on the computer with the newly
restored file.
