When I try to restore my backup file I get the following error “The central directory was not found in the archive (or you were trying to open the last disk of a multi-disk archive) “?

If you backup your data to multiple disks or files, you must begin the restore process by starting with the last file or disk. But if you were trying to open a single file, the file may have become corrupted. Just to be sure, please do the following:

  • Change the .boe extension to .zip extension
  • Try to open it with WinZip or any zip utility
  • If WinZip opens it, then you should be able to restore it
  • If not, then the file is corrupted, you can fix it by using any zip fix utility
