1. Q: Can I change the Backup Client type between Desktop and Business?
   
  A: Go to GOB Administrator Control Panel> Accounts> Select the Account> Select the user> Click edit user> Change Seat type

Q: I have lost my admin password, how can I recover it?
   
  A: In the GOB Administrator Login> click Forgot your password? Enter your email. An email will be sent with your new reset password.

Q: What is the limit on file size that clients can backup?
   
  A: The clients can backup as much as they have of quota in their account

Q: How do I restore a machine from my Disaster Recovery backup?
   
  A: Simply, boot up your computer from the disaster recovery bootable disc> Select your Online Disaster Recovery Backup and continue restoration

  A: Yes, however we prefer for faster backups to use faster connections

  A: Go To Tools> Global Preferences> Backup Settings> Advanced Settings> Select Backup ACL (Access Control List)

Q: What do I have to do in order to backup open files?
   
  A: You need support from the underlying OS. Windows XP and above, by default, come with Volume Shadow Copy, which allows to backup open files.

Q: What is Backup versioning and how does it work?
   
  A: Backup versioning enables users to restore files from the number of versions set. Each backup run will only upload new and modified files and delete old or missing files from old versions.

Q: What is Genie Express Backup?
   
  A: Genie Express Backup is equipped to cater to the growing need for a viable online backup solution for large data sizes.

For quick initial backup of several gigabytes of data, you can provide for users a physical transfer of data to a temporary storage device, or backup the initial full backup for the user. Then transfer it to the storage devices (Drives) for the service.

To enable the online backup client to detect the first initial backup and backup changes, the Express backup must be imported to the Online Backup Solution.

Q: Can I backup an entire Operating System?
   
  A: Yes, by using the Disaster Recovery feature located in the Main Page of Genie Online Backup Clients.

Q: What kind of encryption used by Genie Online Backup Clients?
   
  A: GOB uses 256- bit AES encryption. AES is the Advanced Encryption Standard. This encryption method, has been adopted by NIST as an FIPS-approved (Federal Information Processing Standard) symmetric encryption algorithm that may be used by U.S. Government organizations (and others) to protect sensitive information.

Q: How does Genie Online Backup Client detect changes in files? Does it use the archive bit?
   
  A: Genie Online Backup by default uses timestamp of the file to compare changes with the backup index. This will allow files that are not editable or have been backed up in the past to be taken into backup.

Q: Are there any command line tools for Genie Online Backup clients?
   
  A: You can create a backup script for the job to run. For more information, please refer to the Scripting section in the help documentation.

Q: How do I enable the use of SSL on the entire web console?
   
  A: Go to GOB Administrator Control Panel > under Settings > select System Settings > select TRUE to enable HTTPS (SSL).

Q: How do I rename an Account on GOB Administrator Control Panel?
   
  A: Go to GOB Administrator Control Panel > Accounts> select the Account> click Edit Account and change the Account Name

Q: Can I move users to different backup drives?
   
  A: Go to GOB Administrator Control Panel> Account> click on the Account name> select the user> click Change Drive > select the drive you want the user to backup to> select Copy backups to new destination, if the user has backups on the old drive> click Update to accept changes

Q: Can I increase the quota of Trial accounts?
   
  A: You will need to activate their account to purchased users. This will be deducted from the total seat count

  A: Go to GOB Administrator Control Panel> Settings> Email Templates.
