In GBM Server gives the ability to delete old backup jobs depending on the number of runs or the time period specified by the user. |
| |
| Enhanced 64-Bit Zip Engine: |
With compression a user can save space and on the storage quota, thanks to our enhanced 64-bit zip engine, this also enables Backup Files as large as 8 Terra Bytes. |

| Supports Windows Visual Accessibility Options: |
Microsoft Windows offers "Accessibility Options" that make it more accessible for people with visual disabilities. They allow you to modify the display to make it easier to work with the computer.
GBM Server supports visual accessibility options; changing Windows appearance will change GBM Server’s GUI making the software more readable for people with color blindness, weak vision etc ... |
| |
| Scripting: |
| GBM Server offers two powerful scripting environments that can help users take control of what and how they backup |
| |
| |
Genie-Script: GenieScript is an easy to learn XML based scripting language provided with GBM Server to enable users to automate backup of programs and program settings. This is done by creating scripts that can backup registry keys, files and folders, and ini file entries and combine them as one item that the user can at any time select from the My Programs tab in the backup wizard. |
| |
GRunScript: GBM Server backup jobs can be created and configured using XML based scripting to create scripts that can be shared and customized. |
| |
| |
| Security Options: |
| |
| |
Zip password protection |
| |
AES Encryption: Security is a main concern when storing data, with GBM Server there shouldn’t be since GBM Server uses AES encryption to protect backed up data privacy. AES is the Advanced Encryption Standard (also known as Rijndael). This encryption method, has been adopted by NIST as an FIPS-approved (Federal Information Processing Standard) symmetric encryption algorithm that may be used by U.S. Government organizations (and others) to protect sensitive information
File Filtering.
Users can filter selected files in My Folders using filename masks, for instance users can choose to backup only .doc files in a certain folder or exclude all .exe files from another. |
| |
| |
| |
| Cataloging: |
| The catalog is a library containing a history of backup jobs and the files contained in each backup run. With this feature users can keep track of file versions and run, view and extract files directly from the backup set without going through the restore wizard |
| |
| |
| Preserving Alternative Data Streams: |
NTFS alternate data streams (ADSs) are provided for compatibility with the Macintosh Hierarchical File System (HFS), which uses resource forks to maintain information associated with a file, such as icons, etc...
Manually copying files containing ADS from an NTFS formatted drive to a FAT drive would cause the loss of the ADS information, unlike other backup software GBM Server can preserve ADS contained in backed up files regardless of the file system of the destination backup media |
| |
| |
| Scheduling unattended backup tasks: |
| Backing up data can take a lot of time depending on the size of the data intended for backup, during which a big part of the machine's resources are consumed. To avoid interrupting work or slowing down the machine while it is being actively used, users can schedule unattended backup tasks to run at times that guarantee no interruptions to their work. Scheduling also serves as a way to insure that the data is being backed up on a regular basis without user interaction |
| |
| CPU Management: |
CPU Management allows you to select what CPU(s) Genie Backup Manager Server can use while running.
If you notice that Genie Backup Manager Server uses CPUs a lot, you can limit its execution to only one processor for example. To do this, select/deselect desired processor(s) with checkboxes in the dialog. Execution of GBM Server on all non-selected CPUs will be disabled. |
| |
| Value added tools: |
| GBM Server offers two stand alone utilities that when used combined provide high level data privacy protection |
| |
| |
Genie-Wipe: A value added utility that permanently deletes files by repeatedly writing over the data contained in the file using special algorithms until the file is virtually irretrievable |
| |
Genie Eyes-Only: Genie Eyes Only is GBM Server's stand alone encryption utility; it supports AES encryption in 3 different strengths: 128-bit AES, 192-bit AES and 256-bit AES. |
| |
| |
| Normal, Increment, Differential and Mirror backups: |
Backup all selected files or changed and new files: GBM Server enables users to backup all the selected files each time the backup job is run or backup just files that have been added or changed since the last backup run
| |
| |
Report Manger: |
Backup logs are important to ensure the user that the backup job has ran successfully or not, and therefore genie has added it report manager, which enables the user to view a detailed log showing the files that has been backed up with the complete path their status and size, in addition of the ability to sort the logs by jobs, date, or results, making it easier to manage the backup logs. |
| |
| |
Backup Summary : |
The backup summary is a new feature in GBM, it shows the status of your last backup and prompts you if you want to run it again or view its log making it easier to track down the backup runs.
| |
| |
Genie Backup Manager Agent : |
GBM helps to make your backup jobs run as easy as possible, now backup runs are easier than ever with the new GBM Agent. Now you will be able to view the backup status of you jobs, create a new a new job, edit an old one, run a quick backup, and check for updates without the need to open GBM. All you have to do is right-click on the agent in the system tray and you are all set. |
| |
| |
| File filtering: |
| Users can filter selected files in My Folders using filename masks, for instance users can choose to backup only .doc files in a certain folder or exclude all .exe files from another. |
| |
| |
Auto-exclude: Some system files and folders on the computer are not made to be moved or copied, and are accessed only by the Windows system, trying to backup these files will cause an error in GBM Server, so, to avoid running into backup problems, GBM Server by default skips these files and folders in all the backup jobs created by the user, this is called Auto Exclude |
| |
| |
| Email Notification of Performed Backups: |
E-mail notification is a nifty feature that enables GBM Server to send to the user information about the status of the performed backup upon its completion via email.
If you are a network administrator who is always on the move, and you've scheduled backup jobs to run while you're away but still need to make sure everything goes smoothly then email notification is the feature you need. |
| |
| Data integrity testing: |
| GBM Server can test the integrity of backed up data to ensure it can be reliably restored. The integrity test involves reading every byte in the backup set in a way that simulates restore. |
| |
| |
Pre and Post Job Commands: |
With GBM Server, you can execute commands before and after a backup task. Use this feature to scan output backup files for viruses, run backup tasks in sequence, and much more. |
| |
| |
| |
Built-in FAM (File Access Manager): |
These days few companies can afford to close their running software to create a "backup window" for backup software to be able to archive data reliably and successfully, and most standard backup solutions are not equipped to handle files that are being used by other applications, resulting in the failure of these solutions in performing the very task they were bought to perform. Genie Backup Manger Server 7.0 offers FAM (File Access Manager), as a built-in software, that ensures that all data is backed up. |
